News and Current affairs Department is based at TBC-I Mikocheni, and the Newsroom caters for both radio and TV, this makes the Management of the Newsroom easy and makes sure that Television and Radio teams work together.
STUDIO
There are two studios for news and current affairs, these studios are new, just launched officially on 26th March 2008, that’s where all the News and Current affairs programs come from.
RADIO PRODUCTION AND TELEVISION NEWS PRODUCTION
A new Radio production system “SCOOP” has been installed at Mikocheni newsroom. Scoop is easy to use and fast, that’s where NCA team put all their scripts and actualities, after saving the materials in the production room, you can retrieve the same material in the studio and ready for broadcasting. Reporters use Internet to send materials through a new technology of FTP, ”File transfer protocol”. This system can be used for both Audio and Video, and we can get the story both for television and Radio, at any time.
PROGRAMS
TBC has 24 hours bulletin for Radio, and up to midnight TV Bulletin, but it is expected soon to start 24 hours Television news, as challenges and competition from other media institutions are high, and the public is expecting more from. But with little changes that have been introduced so far, TBC still believe is number ONE in news and current affairs programs.
News and Current affairs programs with the new format started on September 1st 2008, this is where Journalism are used to lay out what is significant, what is relevant ,and most important of all what is fresh and New, and this is what makes us Number 1 in Tanzania.
