TBC International has the mission of eing a station with a local touch offering an international perspective.The station will employ and contract Tanzanian resenters across the demographic base and age to broadcast content that will allow the foreign guest to understand the social, cultural, economic and political make up of the country.
Programs on TBC international will consist of Local and International News, Features, Sports and Entertainment slots, Interviews, and relevant organization, sector or local and international person profiles. At present TBC International is available only within Dar es salaam on 90.0fm.
It is expected to extend its broadcast range into Arusha, Dodoma and Mwanza in the future.TBC International is an English language station with close association to Radio France International and the BBC. Selected programs in English and French from these renowned international broadcasters will be rebroadcast on TBC International.
The Head of TBC International is Taji Liundi. “ We expect to end the on air trial period on the 6th October,” Taji explained, “that will mark the soft launch of TBC International with intermittent on air presentation from it’s new personnel.” At present, there are 6 fully contracted presenters, Don Carroli, Caroline Nassoro, Meg Muigai, Deo Salufu, Mwamini Andrea and Anna Mwasyoke. The soft launch on the 6th October is designed to acclimatize the new presenters with on-air presentation. Only two presenters will go on air in the morning from 06:00am to 10:00am and 14hrs to 18:00hrs.Presenters will initially promote the station id and frequency, contact information and proposed programs.
The main background of the radio will be varied international musical genres from the 60s to the presentMid October, the station will start accepting Push Mobile texts for song requests and social greetings. This will measure the listener-ship.In the months of November and December, the full presenters and correspondents’ line up will have been selected. The program schedule set and satisfactory preparatory activities attained.It is proposed that the official launch of TBC International to be January 1 2009.
