The history of TBC FM can be traced back to the former City Radio. It was meant to cater for Dar es salaam city only. The mode of presentation and style matched most of the existing FM stations. Generally city radio FM Stereo was for entertainment and commercial purposes, but still it didn’t have a stable style of presenting to make it stand out of the crowd.
The currently TBC FM is the most vibrant and with broad coverage all over the country. It plays a lot of African music and its commercial oriented. It runs for twenty four hours and the language used is Swahili. Some of the presenters are Djaro Arungu, Lusajo Mwakabuku, Felix Alton, Nazareth Ndekia, Anastazia Wilherick, Salome baptista, Johari Mayoka, Badi sangu, Mariam Migomba, Rehema Nyamasagara and Doris Kaunda.
